What a term we’ve had. It’s been busy and fun filled. We’ve had a couple of excursions as well as visitors to the class.
We’ve done plenty of gardening with Graham, our school gardener. We had a tour of Lansdowne Road stadium thanks to Dublin City Council’s schools boxing programme. One of our tour guides was Michael Carruth, Olympic gold medal winner! We also had a trip to the National Concert Hall for the Quavers to Quadratics musical Science programme. The musicians were fantastic and it was a great day out.
Musicians Niamh and Orla also came into our class for a couple of workshops which we all enjoyed very much. We also had Junior Achievement come in. Teena, an accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers spoke to us about climate change and the responsibility of big business to help out. The lads enjoyed all the activities. We also had sports day, one of the most fun days in the school calendar and a good time was had by all.
Some 4th Class boys have been taking part in cricket club after school with Mr. Bodkin. We also had a trip out to the AUL grounds in Clonshaugh to support the school team in the Boys Junior Cup final, which they won 3-1. Special mention also to the three boys on our very successful school football team (they won the league also) – these fellows are playing at Under 13s level – two years ahead of themselves often against teams made up entirely of 6th class players. Well done to everyone in 4th for a great final term.
