The pupils in Sixth Class worked very hard in school over the past number of months.
In our recent History work, the class learned about the life and political career of Daniel O’ Connell. The pupils researched how O’ Connell was known as the Liberator, fought for Catholic emancipation and was an advocate of nonviolence in his quest for Irish independence. We also learned about the independence struggle that emerged after O’ Connell, led by people like Michael Collins and James Connolly.
Five pupils from Sixth Class recently took part in a chess competition in TUI Grangegorman. The boys played chess against teams from other schools in the area. They did us all proud by finishing the tournament in third place and collecting bronze medals.
Sixth Class celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge by completing some lovely designs of leprechauns that were then displayed on our classroom door. We also took part in a school quiz as Gaeilge, as well as a rendition of An Dreoilín led by Ms. Bacon.
