The boys in Sixth Class have had a very busy and exciting second half to term
one. Not only have the been busy preparing for Christmas but they also
managed to complete lots of very interesting learning.
In History, the pupils learned about a golden age of Irish history when Ireland
was referred to as The Island of Saints and Scholars. Throughout this work, the
class learned about Druids, Viking raids and the arrival of Christianity to
Ireland. As part of our research work, the class also paid a visit to the world
famous Book of Kells in Trinity College. Following the visit, the pupils
completed some beautiful Celtic art designs and displayed them on the wall
outside our classroom.
The boys in Sixth Class continue to excel at Irish and take great pride in
learning new phrases and vocabulary each day in school. Recently the class
were studying the theme Ócáidí Speisialta.
The most exciting event that took place over the past few weeks in school was
the 90 th Anniversary celebrations of Christ the King BNS. As part of this special
event, we decided to form a new school choir. The choir practiced diligently for
two weeks before the mass and sang their hearts out on the day. We are all
very proud of the school’s new choir and its establishment was a fitting way to
mark Christ the King’s birthday.
Finally, as Christmas approaches, the pupils have been busy decorating our
classroom with lights and other festive decorations. The boys are also putting
the final touches to their Christmas play called Couch Potato Santa which takes
place in our classroom on Monday, December 16th. Wishing you all a very
happy Christmas from Sixth Class.
